Red Line Synthetic Motor Oil, SI-1 Fuel System Cleaner and Water Wetter
There is so much to say about Red Line products that I will simply suggest going to their site for more information: http://www.redlineoil.com/
In a nutshell, continual use of SI-1 will keep injectors 100% within BMW spec, in addition to keeping intake valves clean and preventing rust in the fuel system. This product is far superior to the detergents present in today's gasolines. Water Wetter is a cooling system additive that improves the heat transfer of a 50/50 glycol/water cooling solution (will work w/ 100% water and other coolant/water ratios, but the Mini uses 50/50). Additionally, it reduces rust corrosion & electrolysis, as well as cleans and lubricates water pump seals.

At 29994 miles, I finally went ahead and began doing an engine oil change in between scheduled oil service intervals. I drive the Mini pretty hard, so I figured this would only be a good thing. It seems to be a fairly common practice among other Mini enthusiasts. What I didn't expect to result from using Red Line oil was a difference I could feel. I could not believe how much smoother, and thus more responsive, acceleration was! It's not like the oil previously in there was old. It was only at half its wear milage. I am now a firm believer in Red Line. The Mini is still within the factory maintainence program, so I will continue with dealer scheduled oil service as long as that lasts, but I will also continue to do a mid-service Red Line oil change. When the maintainence program runs out, I will only run Red Line oil in the Mini.

The design/location of the oil dip stick tube into the oil sump makes the Mini Cooper a ripe candidate for using a "top side" oil siphon pump. This is a wonderful device in the realm of changing oil. A tube goes down the oil dip stick tube to the bottom of the oil sump and the pump creates a siphon that drains the oil into the canister. You don't need to raise the car, and the whole procedure is absolutely no mess. The siphon tube and pump can be removed and the canister capped off to take to your local oil disposal center.
